Shorter validity periods for DigiCert TLS/SSL certificates and VMCs

Shorter validity periods for DigiCert TLS/SSL certificates and VMCs

Effective from 30 October, new validity periods apply for DigiCert TLS/SSL and DigiCert VMCs.

DigiCert TLS/SSL certificates and Verified Mark Certificates can currently be purchased under the Multi-year Plan with maximum validity periods of up to 6 years. Effective from 30 October 2023, the validity periods of 4, 5 and 6 years i.e. 48, 60 and 72 months will no longer be available as Multi-year Plan options for DigiCert TLS/SSL certificates and DigiCert VMCs. However, existing Multi-year Plan certificates will remain valid until the end of their regular maximum period (up to 6 years), depending on the validity period purchased. From 30 October 2023, renews and creates can only be requested for a maximum of 3 years.

TLS/SSL certificates from one of our other CAs, Sectigo, are still available with periods of up to 5 years. VMCs remain exclusively available from DigiCert.

Please check and, if necessary, adjust your systems and processes in order to accommodate these changes before the deadline and to carry out any necessary creates or renews so that you and/or your customers can benefit from the validity periods of 6 years that are still available for DigiCert TLS/SSL certificates and VMCs until 29 October 2023. The issuance can also be carried out after the deadline. The relevant date is the order date.
